African Leather

The best thing about this fragrance for me is the leathery palo santo trail. It's not an ingredient in here, the newer clean patchouli's smell like palo santo. Lingering rubbery black leather trail just like you burned a stick. I love burning Palo Santo for incense. There is so much more going on here like a masterful symphony of notes intermingling into the best composition of it's type. I'm not a fan of the brand as it's out of my league for the game I'm playing. This is one of the few from the brand that there is no denying for me. It's not a collection piece. It should be used often without regard for cost. And there is the conundrum. Expensive compels me to conserve and protect. But this one has a magnetic pull. Such an opulant smell without seeming uptight or pretentious. It is very easy wearing and grounding, but can also be joyfully uplifting. I will gladly give up a couple JPG's or Paco's for this. 9.5/10 because I don't know enough to confidently or comfortly give this brand any 10's because the super posh gimmick, exclusive pricing, less ml, I get it, I'm not their targeted consumer. They would probably rather not have my business and I don't know if I can blame them. I'm a rack store guys who still likes to have and appreciate some quality here and there. All that said I will reiterate that I absolutely adore this scent. It's one of the fragrances that women who see or are familiar with my collection will spray on themselves then start looking forward to a spray. Pretty much the first reaction after sniffing the bottle is to spray. Everyone one who's sniffed my collection would put it on skin right away. Which is amazing because many are afraid of the many monsters and weird scents in my collection. Sorry for bad grammer. Rough draft quick review after appreciating this gem once again.

African Leather. More like African Fougere, amirite? A leather fragrance this isn't. This is more of a smooth, dense blend of oud, cardamom, and rose--having more in common with a barbershop fragrance like Bois du Portugal rather than a leather fragrance like Ombre Leather. Wearing African Leather is more like experiencing the savannas, deserts, and mountains of the African continent through a Hemingway book within the warm, cozy confines of a mahogany-clad study rather than through a rugged, sweaty outdoor safari. Still, this is a scent that evokes the joys of traditional, mature masculinity and not the toxic masculinity you might find with a more adolescent Sauvage or Eros. Best worn among the comradery of men over a fine whiskey on the rocks while spinning a yarn at the lodge, you're more likely to receive compliments from your fellow man than from the opposite sex with this one. Moderate performance and projection. Other comparable fragrances include Beau de Jour and Egoiste Platinum. At the end of the day, I like African Leather, I just don't see many occasions to wear it.

Interesting. So just got a full bottle and sprayed it on my left arm. Sprayed a very matured sample (not sure how old) on my right arm and there are some big differences! My sample is so much more rich and dense. The amber and woody oud screams off my skin and the leather note some people claim not to get is definitely there loud and clear. The blend is so smooth. The new bottle smells similar but so much more light and airy. The pink pepper is more prominent making it more spicy and less smooth. The leather note is hardly detectable. I don't think this is a reformulation but simply the sample has oxidized and become more concentrated over time. So, if you are disappointed with a new bottle, it seems like it could benefit from the middle eastern fragrance treatment: Give it a few sprays and let that baby sit and get richer. Fingers crossed my new bottle matures quickly.

Let me start out with i am not a fan of leather fragrances and I love this banger. Not really sure why this is called African Leather, I wouldnt consider this a leather fragrance at all by any means. Its very subtle in the background. This should be called African Cardamom Awesomeness lol. I put this off for a while because I thought it would be more of an in your face leather, so if your like me and also not a huge fan of leather dont worry about it and at least get a decant of this and I assure you youll more than likely going to want a full bottle. I havent smelled tuxedo but this is how I actually imagined it would be. This just makes me think all black suit dressed to the nines. This is an all year fragrance for sure, in summer though go lighter on the sprays.

Scent of the evening is African leather by memo. Love it! I was very hesitant to try this because I thought it would be animalic, but it’s not animalic at all. It’d kind of Fougere adjacent; it reminds me a bit of Oud wood even though I don’t think they really share any notes. It’s very rich and spicy and masculine. And projection and longevity are stellar. Honestly, i probably need to be careful with how much I spray. I guess my only critique is that is definitely a cool weather scent, but I like the scent profile just as much as aventus absolu, so I have to rate it slightly lower for versatility, but it’s a phenomenal fragrance. Overall rating is 9/10.
