In Thy Nascent Coils, My Revelry "Smooth as silk, yet sharper than betrayal; the serpent glides, a whisper of danger wrapped in beauty." - Unknown In the desolate heart of the desert, I seek my path to Paradise. Upon my journey, the rattling song of death reaches my ears—a haunting melody carried on the dry, blistering wind. From the hot eternity of sand before me rises a serpent, its scales shimmering like molten gold embellished with a thousand rare and precious gems, basking in the relentless glow of the sun's fiery gaze. Its coiled form speaks of lethal patience, its unblinking eyes of ancient wisdom, its bared fangs of the shiver-inducing closeness of sweet oblivion. As I watch, the serpent begins to shed its skin, the old layers peeling away to reveal a vibrant, glistening new form beneath. It is a transformation as mesmerising as it is profound—a metaphor for renewal and evolution, for the unfolding of something extraordinary. So too is Au Coeur du Désert. It opens with a sweet and resinous intensity, myrrh and benzoin weaving their spell like the first shimmer of light across the dunes. Slowly, it sheds its layers, revealing a heart of cedar and patchouli, warm and grounding, yet alive with mystique. In its final form, amber and resins radiate like the golden sands themselves, smooth and supple as the serpent's sun-warmed skin. A journey, a metamorphosis, a revelation—this fragrance is the serpent's dance, ever-changing, yet eternal. It lingers, unforgettable, like the desert’s whispered secrets. This is, in my humble opinion, the finest amber fragrance on the niche market and the deeper, more perilous iteration of L'Air du Désert Marocain.

Au Coeur du Désert opens on the sharp contrast between petit grain, bergamot, and coriander, where citrus brightness and dry spice briefly pull against one another before dissolving into an amber haze. From there, the fragrance settles into an expansive atmosphere of warm resin, spice, ash, and air. Compared to L’Air du Désert Marocain, the sweetness remains remarkably restrained throughout. As the fragrance evolves,, ambergris and ambrein become increasingly perceptible, giving the dry down a softly mineral warmth that feels radiant. The composition never hardens into clear structure or sharp transitions; it simply hovers, balanced and atmospheric, like scented desert air suspended in heat.

Au Coeur du Désert is a spicy-amber scent that bears a striking resemblance to 02 L'Air du Désert Marocain. It feels like the extrait version of 02, but with some differences. ACDD is less dry and more amber-focused, and is more spicebomb than fougère. It is certainly more intense. This scent is perhaps my preference, but both are excellent and it comes down to personal taste. Both scents have distinct styles while being similar in spirit.

So, my daughter owns a rabbit. His name is Nibbles and he’s one of the cutest little balls of fluff you’ll ever meet. Every week the two of us take his enclosure outside and spend some time cleaning it out, getting rid of all the old bedding and straw and topping it up with fresh, clean wood-chips. The smell is reminiscent of a workshop floor - dry, dusty and faintly resinous, with the slightest touch of sweetness, if you search for it.

Spicy, balsamic, dry, gorgeous. It’s richer and thicker than LDDM. I feel as I can only wear this in the nighttime whereas the former can be worn anytime. If LDDM was a watercolor painting of the desert, this is the same painting but in oil. Fantastic. Lasts for ages. I sprayed it on at midnight and can still smell it at 5pm. Stays on clothes forever. Makes me feel as if I’m a Bedouin gazing at the stars in the night sky in the Sahara.
