Luna Rossa Black

In my opinion one of the most unique fragrances along the designer market right now. Both have the old and new batch bottles, it %95 smells and performs the same. You get that bergamot hit you for a small time when you first spray it with a mixture of powerful tonka and patchouli. It doesn’t last long though it turnes into soft creamy musky powder within 30 minutes. I use it in winter and fall, mostly formal like office/work and for going out or date nights. I consider this as my signature scent but I gotta say even though it lasts all day on my skin (+10 hrs) sillage isn’t that great. It most likely stays as a skin scent and people around you won’t likely gonna smell this. This doesn’t have to be a bad thing actually its a intimate fragrance so you can wear this in formal/work occasions as well comfortably. If you are looking for some different scent profile in your collection, this is a really sexy and masculine fragrance and I would definitely recommend buying.

Today’s scent of the day is Prada Luna rossa black. I like it. Even though iris is not a note, it reminds me of Prada l’homme or Dior homme intense with a predominant powdery note, which I don’t mind. That note is just not my favorite. That type of scent profile seems a bit more formal than what can/should be worn on a random Sunday running errands, but getting whiffs of it throughout the day definitely made me think that I smelled good. Still, when given the choice, I’d prefer something more in my wheelhouse of fresh, blue, citrusy, woody, masculine, fougere-adjacent profile. Performance was average. I got a 5-6 hours of longevity out of it and decent enough projection that I kept smelling it throughout the day - maybe 1-2 feet. Not a beast, but not a skin scent either. Perhaps it was perfect in that category because while I do value performance, I don’t want to overwhelm people around me. Overall, I’d rate is 7/10.

My first real cologne/fragrance I got as gift back in 2018 when I was 20 years old. It introduced me to Prada which is one of my favorite house brands; their other flankers such as Luna Rossa Carbon and Sport are great fresh scents. This is one of my favorites of all time, if not my signature scent next to L'Homme. I will say however the batch has changed as I own two bottles, one made in Spain and the other made in France. The bottle from Spain smells MUCH better and has a smoother dry down with a much sweeter tonka bean note. It is now absent in the 2024+ formulations and is much more subtle. I'd say its a very powdery and unique scent, good for 70-40 degree weather day or night. Not for summer use! Hope you take a chance on it as I did, I found it in a magazine as a kid.

The notes are covered enough. I'll just say this is a great scent that gets a bad rap for performance because it's very subtle, especially when compared to other winter scents. Don't expect much sillage. This is great for close-contact occasions where you want to smell nice and cozy without being too loud or cloying. Also good for office settings where you don't want to fill a conference room when you enter. If you're coming from bold winter scents like Spicebomb, Ombre Leather, Noir Extreme, Most Wanted, Le Male Parfum, Boss Bottled, etc etc, this is going to feel like there's not much there, but there is. It just has its occasions.

Slightly dissapointing the first 20minutes, but after that it actually becomes very very good. Soft sophistication. Mostly just a "clean" fragrance with 30% sophistication. Very Versatile, great office / daily fragrance. I disagree with fragnantica putting this in winter and night. To me, it is not sophisticated enough to be exclusive to night and winter. It is only just borderline sophisticated. Clean enough to wear during days and office, with a touch of sophistication. Sophisticated enough to wear at fancy dinner. Nice. I can call it already now, that this will likely be my signatrue fall and winter scent.
