Side Effect Tester

This is my first review on a Fragrance! I am very pleased that it's on Initio Side Effect. Cinnamon is my favorite note, so I was very excited to try this scent out, I got an 8ml travel size to test it out and WOW, it is incredible. The Rum and Cinnamon perfectly align in the opening; and while I don't usually go for "boozy" fragrances, this one really makes the cinnamon have a rich creaminess to it that it sweet and addictive. The dry-down really lets the tobacco and sandalwood take center stage, at least on my skin. While that same creamy cinnamon rum is still there when it's dry, it's more in the passenger's seat than in the driver's. I find myself wanting to smell this more and more, which is a good indicator for me that this is 100% a full bottle buy. Though, perhaps wait until the paycheck hits and this fragrance is very expensive. A little too much in my opinion as there are other fantastic cinnamon fragrances out there that are far cheaper. Though, with that being said I haven't smelled one quite like this. And for that reason, I look forward to having a full bottle!

It is one of the best fragrances I have ever owned. It is very sophisticated and smells very elegant. The first sprays might smell like plain Whiskey or Rum, but let this fragrance mature for a week or two to open its full potential. The tobacco isn't harsh at all; the cinnamon and saffron notes make Initio Side effect feel so sophisticated: sweet, spicy(in a very pleasant way, not like harsh pepper or curry spices), boozy. The notes mature, drying down from boozy-sweet-spicy notes to more sweet vanilla-tobacco mix. It is an insane fragrance and is definitely for special occasions. I would rate it 9/10 only because of the high price tag.

Initio's Side Effect is a bright, spicy tobacco fragrance with a touch of rum. This fragrance is loved amongst many, but I must admit I was expecting a much richer scent profile. The tobacco and rum was a lot more tame than I anticipated. To my nose, on my skin, I was detecting a subtle sweet-spice from the cinnamon and saffron pairing, on top of the hedione in the composition. The scent itself was pleasant, but again, I found this fragrance to be lacking depth. Side Effect is a solid choice if you're looking for an easy introduction into fragrances with easy going spices, boozey notes and tobacco.

This is one of the most addictive scents I've ever smelled. It combines the appeal of a sensual date and a drug-induced orgy. Right off the sprayer, it hits you in the head with boozy cherry, cinnamon and tobacco all turned up to the maximum. It stays on skin all day, and is impossible to wash off clothes. I sprayed it ONCE on a tester strip in the evening, and I couldn't fall asleep at night, as the entire room smelled like it after 10 minutes. The strip still strongly smells like it after 6 days.

Sweet, syrupy and intimate, with a bright spicy tobacco and a touch of rum that settles into a warm, silky vanilla. It's cozy and attention-grabbing, and I've had people notice it on dates. A great choice for cooler evenings.
