Today I'm returning to Amouage, a house that has become one of my favorite fragrance houses of all time and one whose releases I am always excited to explore. Amouage has built its reputation on bold, complex, and often unapologetically niche compositions, with a willingness to embrace challenging materials and unconventional scent profiles that has resulted in some truly memorable fragrances. This time, I'm returning to the house with Decision, a 2025 release composed by Quentin Bisch that has quickly become one of the most talked-about fragrances in the current Amouage catalog. In fact, Decision is easily the most hyped fragrance from the house right now, receiving an enormous amount of attention despite being surrounded by a catalog already filled with fragrances that have achieved legendary status among enthusiasts. On paper, the composition still appears unmistakably Amouage, with frankincense and myrrh sitting at its heart alongside cardamom, pink pepper, cedarwood, patchouli, and vanilla, bringing together many of the spices, resins, and woods that I have come to associate with the house. At the same time, the inclusion of bergamot and juniper suggests a brighter, fresher, and more aromatic interpretation of that signature style, potentially offering something more immediately approachable without completely abandoning the character that makes Amouage so distinctive. Given how highly I already regard the house, that combination of familiarity and a potentially different direction immediately caught my attention. Of course, the extraordinary amount of hype surrounding Decision also sets an exceptionally high bar, especially when it has to compete against some of my favorite creations from one of my favorite houses. With that in mind, I was excited to return to Amouage and find out whether Decision could live up to its rapidly growing reputation, while also seeing where it ultimately stands within a catalog I already hold in such high regard.

Buy it. That's the review. Buy it. If you want more...I came across this before knowing about the hype. It was one of many samples that showed up on my door. As soon as I put it on, both me and my wife had the same, "OMG, that is amazing" reaction. I can't say more than what has already been said. It hits you with a bolt of citrus before falling down into a coniferous juniper inspired dry down. There is the barest hint of smoke to it. This is a dense, projecting monster that feels like standing in front of a lake near a dead/dried out tree, with coniferous trees all around and somebody has a lit campfire miles away. That's the best i can describe it. It is what the advertising says it is. It is currently my favorite scent...ever. It is THAT good. You need to try it. You won't be disappointed.
Decision, Royal Tobacco, and Reflection Man are the three fragrance I've tried from Amouage. While they are all masterpieces in their own regard, Decision calls my name more than the others. This is a woody frankincense bomb with a hint of citrus freshness in the opening. Frankincense and woods may sound intimidating to some, but its so likeable and not very dark that I don't know how anybody couldn't like this stuff. Its pretty linear if that matters to you, the citrusy thing fades pretty quick and you're left with a frankincense akigalawood heart that just smells absolutely divine. Performance is phenomenal and you don't need many sprays at all, so the bottle will last you forever.
Love at first sniff. Istantly transported me back to my primary school days when I was an altar boy. The smell of the church incense is very reminiscent to this, blended with juicy juniper berries. So addicting! Very impressive and unique scent. Haven't smelt anything like it. Perfect signature/all seasons scent. Just so comforting to be inside this scent bubble. Gives me a lot of confidence when I'm out in public. The perfume is kinda linear, but don't really mind. Lasts 6-10 hrs on skin and days on clothes. Bisch mode indeed!
I’ll admit I was a bit hesitant about Amouage fragrances after being disappointed by Memoir Man and Black Iris, but Decision turned out to be a fantastic hit. It’s primarily woody, with an exceptionally well-crafted and complex composition that exudes seriousness and sophistication. Although the opening is a little sharper, the way it develops into the drydown is incredibly pleasant. The projection is very good. In my opinion, the only real downside is the price.
